Columbus Day sales are bountiful and signs of another ski and snowboard season are everywhere. Snowmaking efforts are underway from Maine to Colorado as resorts vie to open first and start another season. The new season may have officially began several weeks ago when Timberline in Oregon reopened on weekends to start October. Reports of snow making efforts get the 2010.11 ski and snowboard season underway have emerged from Sunday River, Loveland, and Arapahoe Basin. New snow has also graced the high peaks of the Rockies and the Sierra's.
Interesting news in the mountains include:
- New owners at Waterville Valley in New Hampshire as Booth Creek exits the eastern US market. Rumor has it that Wildcat is probably the next one to have new owners announced be the start of the new season.
- Sun and Ski Sports is opening new locations in New England in locations where The Ski Market once were located. Pembroke, MA and Avon, CT are the first two locations announced.
