Sunlight Mountain Launches New Slopes and Soak Packages

Unlimited Skiing. Unlimited Hot Springs. Meet the Sunny Soaker Pass New Season Pass Option Includes Season-Long Access to Glenwood Hot Springs  and SUNLIGHT MOUNTAIN RESORT

Sunlight Mountain Resort launched a new pass option that adds season-long soaking at Glenwood Hot Springs in addition to skiing and riding at Sunlight for the 2017-18 season. Billed the Sunny Soaker Pass, the new offering is essentially a combination of Sunlight’s season pass, and Glenwood Hot Springs, off season value pass, said Troy Hawks, marketing and sales director at Sunlight. “The secret is out that Glenwood Springs is home to one of the best après ski experiences in the country, if not the World, so we’re extremely excited to offer this new season pass product that makes it a cinch to cap a great day on the mountain with a rejuvenating soak in the World’s largest natural hot springs pool,” said Troy Hawks, Sunlight marketing and sales director. 

The Sunny Soaker Pass is valid everyday of Sunlight’s 115-day season running from Dec. 8, 2017 to April 1, 2018. The pass is offered at three price points based on age. The Sunny Soaker Pass for adults aged 18 to 64 is $605. The Senior Soaker Pass for ages 65-79 is $429, and the Student Soaker Pass for ages 13-17 is $459. 

The Sunny Soaker Pass is only available for purchase on Sunlight’s website at SunlightMTN.com. Hawks said this latest collaboration with Glenwood Hot Springs marks the next chapter in what has been a long and successful cooperative partnership between the two companies dating back to 1989 when Sunlight first introduced Ski, Swim, and Stay family vacation packages. He added that Sunny Soaker Passes come with all of the benefits of Sunlight’s other season pass products, including free or steeply discounted skiing and riding at resorts in Japan, Spain, as well as other areas in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona. Sunlight season pass holders also enjoy 10 percent discounts on all food purchases at the mountain, plus 10 percent discounts on new product purchases at Sunlight Ski & Bike Shop, 309 9th St., Glenwood Springs. Sunlight Mountain, Glenwood Springs and the Hot Springs

This weeks journey started last Saturday in Colorado going through Steamboat, Utah - Canyons, Snowbird, Alta and Sundance - has me brought me for a couple of nights to Glenwood Springs. The ride over was a delightful drive in blue skies against snow covered peaks covered just over 300 miles of mostly highway driving in juts over 5 hours. I had left Sundance resort just out of Provo on Thursday afternoon and arrived in Glenwood staying at The Ramada right downtown. The Ramada staff was great and the room was comfortable with a great bed. One note of merit the downstairs 6th Street Grill served up a great burger right before closing to make sure this was one happy guest. It was right at the wire of closing and the staff made sure I got my meal in. A nice selection of local micro-brews and I was a happy camper.

Friday I was greeted again by deep blue skies as I drove the short 25 minutes from in town to Sunlight Mountain Resort. Sunlight Mountain is known as one of Colorado's hidden gems. Tucked between the mega resorts of Vail and Aspen each about an hour in different directions, Sunlight offers a family friendly and laid back ski and snowboard experience. The skiing on this day was perfect soft snow groomed to perfection on the groomed runs and soft cut up powder from the most recent storm earlier in the week. I had never skied the area before and enjoyed the selection of glades that ranged from moderate to the selection of double black tighter and steeper glades. Lift ticket prices are half what the charge at the mega resorts coming in at $50 as the top ticket price. The greater bargain is using the Mountain Sports Club discounts that include 2 for 1, half price and even a free lift ticket offer.

After enjoying the day of skiing I went and gathered the swim suit for a soak in the natural hot Sulphur Springs pools in town. This ritual has played out for ever in Glenwood. The hot springs resort tight on the Colorado River is as soothing and relaxing a way to end a day as one will ever enjoy.  Today it is up and at it for the short one hour drive to Vail to ski with my sons before heading back home to Boulder. Ski and snowboard lessons will begin at 10AM and all guests should sign up at the Ski School window. the free lessons are on a first come first serve basis and will be limited to 20 skiers and 20 boarders. Guests that need rentals should arrive by 9AM to make sure they have time to make it through the rental shop. Lessons are limited to persons age 7 and older. Free lessons do not include lift tickets, rentals, food or any other services.
