Big Snow, Resorts Open More Terrain and Ski and Snowboard Season off and running

Well the warm end of early fall turned quickly as the central Rockies in Colorado have gotten over 2 feet of winter snow. I skied today at Loveland and it was mid winter snow - soft and easy to carve. After a week of storms the skies cleared and it was a bluebird day. I know at Loveland and elsewhere Ski Patrol is working hard to open new terrain. This press release just hit my desk as Loveland opens even more terrain and lifts for the coming weekend.I can testify the snow and terrain included soft powdery bumps today. I had to pinch myself that is was only October 28. OH how sweet it is!!!

Giant Snowstorm Opens More Terrain! at Loveland Ski Area.
Mother Nature really pulled through this time!  A giant snowstorm that helped us open this past Sunday continued through Tuesday leaving behind nearly 3 feet of natural snow.   Needless to say the mountain looks like mid-winter and our attention has turned from snowmaking to opening new runs.  On Wednesday both Spillway and Nix Nox were opened and we are excited to announce that this Friday Chair 6 will open!  This opening will provide access to the runs Keno, Blackjack, Roulette, Straight Flush and Royal Flush.  Lower Richards will also open on Friday.

This was a picture from my camera looking up at the entrance to Nix Nox. It was a great run.

Pictures from around the country keep trickling in with reports and pictures of significant snow from Whistler in BC to the Midwest where Wild Mountain is ready to open any day and the New England where snow making crews are already hard at work to get resorts open and ready.
