Exciting news for powder seekers traveling to Utah EDEN, UT - Dec 17, 2018

Whisper Ridge, a premier helicopter and cat-skiing provider operating out of Eden, Utah has announced the acquisition of over 11,000 premium skiable acres to its existing terrain for the 2018-19 season. The newly combined 70,000+ contiguous acres makes Whisper Ridge the largest private backcountry ski resort in the world. This addition represents over $17 million of private capital investment and land development.

In addition to this latest expansion, Whisper Ridge is also announcing an exclusive partnership with Powder Mountain Resort to provide heli and cat-skiing services for their patrons. Whisper Ridge will build an additional base of operations at Powder Mountain to facilitate access to their private land, which borders the public resort.

“This partnership creates a truly unique opportunity for limitless lift serviced, side-country and backcountry experiences for skiers and riders seeking an alternative to the overcrowded and overhyped resorts that are becoming all too common these days,” says Mark Schroetel, General Manager at Powder Mountain.“Together with Whisper Ridge,we have created a winter paradise of unprecedented scale only an hour from Salt Lake.”

Whisper Ridge operates exclusively on private land in the Eden and Paradise areas of the northern Wasatch Front, only 60 minutes north from Salt Lake City. “Skiers are always amazed at both how expansive our terrain is, and how fast they can get here,” says Dan Lockwood, CEO of Whisper Ridge. “It’s a quick drive or even quicker heli-taxi from the SLC international airport.”

Whisper Ridge owns one the largest fleets of snow cats in North America, and accommodates over 120 backcountry skiers in their 10 customized PistenBully snow cats each day.

“Both Whisper Ridge and Powder Mountain play an important role in the skiing and snowboarding landscape in Utah,” said Ski Utah President & CEO Nathan Rafferty. “This partnership and expansion brings the best of both entities together, providing visitors with access to world-class resort skiing, cat-skiing and heli-skiing on thousands of acres of The Greatest Snow on Earth.”

Whisper Ridge is a relatively new resort, operating for the last 4 years in the North Ogden, Utah area. “These mountains have only recently opened, being held privately for generations,” says Lockwood. “Our expansion and Powder Mountain partnership creates an exciting opportunity for skiers to experience a hidden gem at the heart of the world’s best powder skiing.”
